Accountant, Montreal

Overview

This is a senior role that is accountable to Head Office (Controller/VP Finance) for the timely and accurate reporting for the Eastern Region. This senior role will be responsible for recording transactions for Financial Reporting, Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial reporting tasks including
    • Weekly sales revenue reporting for region
    • Revenue variance analysis reports for region
    • Ottawa, Montreal, Halifax financial statement variance analysis
    • Journal entries as required
    • Additional reporting and data analysis as required by the region
  • Accounts receivable tasks including
    • Responsibility to ensure prompt invoicing for the Region
    • Monthly canceled jobs and sponsorship reporting
    • Ownership of the regional AR Aging report including collection action where required
  • Accounts Payable tasks including
    • Labour invoice processing for region
  • Ensure filing system is orderly
  • Other duties that may be assigned by the Controller

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Bilingual (English & French)
  • Completion or current enrollment in CPA program
  • Working knowledge of all accounting functions and related principles (including Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Payroll and General Ledger)
  • Intermediate level working knowledge of Excel
  • 3-5 years’ experience working in an accounting department
  • Understanding of analysis and reporting with ability to apply it to the business
  • Some supervisory or team lead experience
  • Ability to work independently and make appropriate decisions based on accounting standards
