VP, National Ops

Overview

This role will be responsible for providing strategic direction to the operations functions of all FMAV locations, in support of our vision and growth strategy. This includes establishing labour practices; inventory, storage, tracking, and purchases, warehouse planning and operations processes in our various locations; sharing existing best practices and researching and introducing new ones, with an overarching focus on the customer experience, efficiency and profitability.

This role is pivotal in shaping and transforming our company into a national organization and provide one consistently positive experience to our clients. The Vice President, National Operations will collaborate with various Regional Vice Presidents, General Managers, Operations Managers and other related departments such as Finance, Sales, Marketing, HR, and IT.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Inventory & Storage

  • Review current inventory processes, tracking and shipping based on business rhythms and regional needs to drive enhanced asset utilization, creating improved efficiency and profitability
  • Optimize inventory tracking
  • Analyze capex needs and establish immediate and mid-term plan for resource allocation
  • Centralize purchasing as appropriate to maximize savings (tape, batteries, cables, shipping supplies, etc.)
  • Assess and optimize warehouses

Systems Review

  • Partner with VP Finance to establish requirements for ERP
  • Source/develop/implement recommended solution to meet future needs
  • Project planning, testing, launch, communication and change management to support changes as required

Customer Experience

  • Partner with Marketing to create a customer analytics measurement tool
  • Review analytics in detail with leaders in our various branches to understand key drivers to client satisfaction
  • Drive initiatives that will enhance our brand and improve our customer experience

Operations Processes

  • Chair Operations Leadership Team community to gather input and build implementation plans for regional and national roll outs
  • Drive the development/implementation of key best practices (including communication/training, tools, impact assessment) to create unique and consistent client experiences with FMAV
  • Develop and manage Operations KPI Dashboard (asset utilization, labour productivity, expenses)
  • Partner with Operations Leaders and HR to establish Operations organizational structure, training plan and optimal hiring processes
  • Partner with HR to establish staffing model for FMAV to appropriately address cyclical nature of work, and to ensure employment and safety regulations are adhered to in various branches

Qualifications & Requirements

  • University Degree in Business/Supply Chain, Engineering or related field
  • CCLP Designation or CITT Certification is an asset
  • PMP Designation is an asset
  • Progressive and diversified experience in running a multi-location organization, involved with operations/warehouse/inventory planning and labour scheduling
  • 5+ years leadership experience
  • Exceptional ability to drive multiple projects to completion with a focus on customer, deadlines and budget
  • Strong financial and quantitative abilities
