The thematic spirit of the Venetian Ball lay in the design, emotions and elegance of a traditional masquerade ball. For the 25th annual fundraising gala for Villa Charities, a single hallmark graphic was created: A feathered mask – and from this foundational piece, a complete production, décor, and event design language was defned. FMAV worked in partnership with the event production and entertainment teams to bring their respective visions to life. Some of the technical production successes included:
Audio – Line array PA for 1,000 guests, backline monitor and production for Paul Anka’s performance featuring a 16-piece orchestra
Video – Multi-camera shoot with four (4) 14K HD projection screens
Content development – Design, produced and animated all screen content, driving the emotional tone of the event. Produced the organization’s fundraising video, which served as a springboard communication for the year’s donor relations program.
Lighting – A key dimension of the overall event look and feel, the lighting design was such that the palette and vibrancy changed over the course of the evening, moving the event story from ‘day’ to ‘night’. A vast colour palette was deployed to give maximum fexibility and versatility to the sprawling interior design. Stage lighting worked in harmony with the overall event aesthetic and was, again, anchored in the design of the aforementioned event graphic, which FMAV tailored and enlarged to serve as the stage backdrop.
