[Winner of the International Special Events Society 2014 Esprit Award for Best Technical Production]  Canadian airline, WestJet engaged FMAV to create the audiovisual and technical production for their annual employee holiday party. In 2013, the 2,200-guest party was themed ‘A Night in Oz’. FMAV assumed the role of technical producer and managed all planning, design, installation and operation of the event’s audiovisual program, which included the largest indoor projection ever staged in Alberta.

  • Themed dynamic LED and ambient lighting design
  • A true-to-the-story simulated tornado to open the event in dramatic styleGigantic 30’ x 250’ wide blended projection screen to create an immersive fantasy environment
  • Management of a multi-act entertainment show and creation of a full-scale theatrical production
  • Collaborated with communications, graphics and production teams in development of Oz-inspired graphics, animation and video media
  • Created 3D animated objects, replicating their movement across the expansive screens to create an illusion of one of the famed Oz icons, the ‘Flying Monkeys’
  • Employed green screen video applications, to give the effect of talking heads assuming the role of ‘The Wizard’
  • Rounding out the entire production, all thematic décor and design elements were managed by FMAV along with all logistics, power distribution and guest management solutions.

Renowned for the level of care and attention shown to their passengers, WestJetters themselves were treated to a memorable ‘Night in Oz’ that was full of wonder, spectacle and whimsy thanks to the creative efforts of their internal CARETeam and the envelope-pushing technical minds at FMAV.
